New Delhi, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : On September 26, leaders from across the political spectrum gathered to pay homage to Guru Amardas, the third guru of Sikhism, on his Jyoti-Jyot Day. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh led the tributes, emphasizing the guru’s commitment to high ideals, spiritual vision, and dedication to human welfare.
In a post on the social media platform X, Singh expressed, “On the Jyoti-Jyot Day of Guru Amardas Ji, I pay my respects. He reinforced the tradition of ‘first pangat, then sangat,’ promoting social harmony and equality. His timeless message against caste discrimination and social evils continues to inspire us.”
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan also shared his thoughts, stating, “On this day, I offer my heartfelt tributes at the feet of the revered Guru Amardas Ji, a sea of love, compassion, and kindness. The divine light you ignited for the protection of faith and the welfare of humanity will always shine brightly.”
Hardeep Singh Puri, India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, remarked, “I bow to the third Guru, Sahib Guru Amardas Ji, on his Jyoti-Jyot Day. By strengthening the tradition of ‘Guru ka Langar,’ he ensured that everyone had an equal place in the ‘Guru ghar.’”
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the teachings of Guru Amardas, saying, “On this Jyoti-Jyot Day, I respectfully honor the third Guru of the Sikh faith, who showed the path of service, equality, and compassion. His teachings for the welfare of humanity and social harmony will always guide us.”
Nitin Naveen, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), also paid his respects, stating, “Guru Sahib stood against social discrimination, reinforcing the spirit of equality. By broadening the tradition of sangat-pangat, he conveyed the message of respect and equal rights for all. His teachings continue to guide us towards a more unified and harmonious society.”
