Darbhanga, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : The Jan Suraj Party has made a significant change in its candidate for the Darbhanga graduate constituency in the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections. Dr. Mohammad Imtiaz Noorani has been announced as the new candidate, replacing the previously declared Ravindra Kumar.
The announcement was made by Manoj Kumar Bharti, the party’s state president, in a press release on Monday. Dr. Noorani, 49, hails from the Bisfi block in Madhubani district. He is the son of the late Mohammad Sadarul Haque. The party describes him as a doctor, social worker, and businessman.
This decision comes as the election process for eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council, covering both teacher and graduate constituencies, is set to begin. Initially, Ravindra Kumar was chosen for this seat, but he has now been replaced by Dr. Noorani.
Notably, Jan Suraj had previously changed its candidate for the Tirhut teacher constituency as well. Originally, Bhushan Jha was declared the candidate, but he later announced his decision to contest as an independent. Consequently, Jan Suraj appointed Shyam Nandan Yadav as their new candidate for that seat.
The Jan Suraj Party has announced its intention to contest all eight seats in the Bihar Legislative Council elections. These include four graduate constituencies: Patna, Darbhanga, Tirhut, and Kosi, along with four teacher constituencies: Patna, Darbhanga, Tirhut, and Saran.
According to the Election Commission‘s schedule, the notification for these eight seats will be issued on September 29, with the nomination process starting on the same day. The last date for filing nominations is October 6, and the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 7. Candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations until October 9. Voting is scheduled for October 23, from 8 AM to 4 PM, with counting set for October 27.
With this candidate change for the Darbhanga graduate seat, the Jan Suraj Party is also adjusting its electoral strategy, now campaigning under Dr. Mohammad Imtiaz Noorani’s name among graduate voters.
