Mumbai, April 26: The debate surrounding language, identity, and religious beliefs has intensified once again in Mumbai. During the Mumba Devi temple pilgrimage, celebrity astrologer Jay Madan and Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC shared their views on various issues.
Jay Madan began by emphasizing the significance of faith in Mumbai and the importance of the Mumba Devi temple. He stated, “The name of Mumbai is intrinsically linked to Mumba Devi. This city thrives under her grace. Just as in any city, local deities and traditions are respected, it is essential for everyone living in Mumbai to seek the blessings of Mumba Devi. Those who reside in Mumbai or wish to start their careers and lives here should definitely visit the Mumba Devi temple.”
Addressing the language controversy, Jay Madan remarked, “The local language holds importance in every state. With the help of AI and translation tools, understanding any language has become easier today. Every language deserves respect and should serve as a means of connection, not a source of conflict.”
On the other hand, Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC also expressed her views. Regarding the Marathi language issue, she said, “The Marathi language is our pride and identity. The Motor Vehicle Act mandates that any service provider, whether an auto-rickshaw driver or a taxi driver, must speak Marathi to facilitate ease for passengers.”
She added, “Some individuals have engaged in opportunistic politics. They have turned this into a political issue. However, it is a matter of pride for us that more and more people in the state learn and speak Marathi.”
When questioned about Baba Bageshwar’s statements, Shaina NC emphasized the need to consider India’s population and social balance. “Awareness in society is crucial for the country’s security and future. The objective of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is to strengthen nationalism and social contribution, where every individual contributes to nation-building at their level.”
It is noteworthy that the Marathi language debate has escalated following a recent administrative decision mandating knowledge of the Marathi language for auto drivers in the Mira-Bhayander area. This decision has sparked political discussions, with some leaders arguing that it strengthens local language and culture, while opponents contend that it increases pressure on migrant workers and affects their employment.
