Lalitpur, August 15: Lalitpur MLA Ram Ratan Kushwaha has expressed support for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s remarks regarding the partition of India. He characterized the partition as a dark chapter in the nation’s history and criticized the Congress party for its role in it. Kushwaha stated that CM Yogi’s comments were well-considered and accurate.
In an interview with a news agency, Kushwaha emphasized that the effects of partition are felt by people at all levels. He referenced the slogan “Bantenge to Katenge” (If we divide, we will perish), asserting that such statements are not made lightly. He stressed the importance of societal unity, stating that mutual solidarity is the foundation of security and strength. Maintaining unity within society is crucial; togetherness fosters goodness, and goodness nurtures togetherness. He urged that there should be no opposition or conflict based on division, and it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the safety of citizens in such an environment. The government must guarantee the security of all societal segments and prevent any form of division or discord.
Kushwaha held the then Congress government accountable for the partition, calling it a dark chapter in Indian history. He noted that India was once united, and the partition occurred due to political self-interest. He accused the Congress leadership of exacerbating societal differences for political gain, ultimately leading to the division of the country. Hindus and Muslims have coexisted in India for a long time, and promoting discrimination based on caste and class does not reflect the core spirit of Indian society.
He remarked that attempts to amplify societal differences for political motives resulted in the tragic partition. This calamity should always be remembered by the citizens to learn from historical mistakes. Supporting CM Yogi’s statement, Kushwaha asserted that the tragedy of partition should not be dismissed as merely a historical event. Instead, it should serve as a lesson on the importance of unity and brotherhood in society. He emphasized that social unity is essential for strengthening the nation. When mutual trust and brotherhood prevail in society, the country will also become stronger.
When asked whether the term “partition of the country” or “partition of humanity” is more appropriate, Kushwaha responded that it is both. He explained that if the country had not been partitioned, humanity would not have been divided either. The partition created a rift that extended beyond political boundaries, affecting human relationships and social connections. If the country had remained united, humanity would not have turned against one another.
