Kunal Ghoshs Surprise Appearance at Independence Day Celebration Sparks Political Speculation

Kolkata, August 15: Kunal Ghosh, a legislator from the Trinamool Congress, stirred political speculation by attending an Independence Day event organized by a rebel faction led by expelled MLA Ritabrata Banerjee in West Bengal on Saturday.

Although Ghosh insisted that his attendance was entirely unplanned and devoid of any political motive, speculation continues to swirl around his appearance.

Affiliated with the faction led by former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Ghosh first hoisted the national flag at the party headquarters in Topsia, Kolkata, as per the party leader’s directive.

He then proceeded to the office of the majority faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee, located near the Metropolitan Bypass.

At the rebel office, Ghosh saluted the already hoisted national flag and paid tribute to freedom fighters.

His unexpected presence left members of the ‘rebellious yet majority’ faction participating in the Independence Day program astonished.

Ghosh dismissed the speculation regarding his presence in the rival camp, stating that his participation was coincidental. Clarifying his presence at the other event, he noted, “I was returning from the road near the Metropolis building.”

He added, “I saw flags being hoisted in the name of my party, and many notable individuals were present. I got out of my car and joined the program. This is the Trinamool Congress office in my Beleghata constituency, so there is no reason for speculation.”

Chandrika Bhattacharya, the former state minister of finance in West Bengal, welcomed Ghosh’s decision to attend the Independence Day celebration.

Bhattacharya remarked, “We believe in democracy. If any passerby wants to join us, we welcome them. Kunal was passing by, and he came to pay his respects. This is not unusual.”

However, Ghosh’s presence at both events has intensified speculation regarding the political dynamics within the troubled TMC, as rival factions are vying for control over the party organization.
