Krishna Hegde Predicts End of TMC Rule in Bengal, Foresees BJP Government

Mumbai, April 26: In a bold assertion regarding the West Bengal assembly elections, Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde claimed that the reign of Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) is nearing its end, paving the way for a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state.

During a conversation in Mumbai, Hegde noted that over 90% voter turnout was recorded in the first phase of polling across 152 assembly seats. He interpreted this as a clear indication that the BJP is poised to form the next government.

Hegde expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a significant majority. He criticized the TMC’s governance under Mamata Banerjee, describing it as one marked by intimidation and a lack of development, which left the poor in dire conditions. He believes this era is coming to a close and that the BJP government will usher in prosperity and progress. According to him, the people of Bengal have already devised a formula for establishing a BJP-led government.

On the recent resignations of seven Rajya Sabha members from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Hegde remarked that these members were disillusioned with AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. He pointed out that several top AAP leaders, including Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, have faced multiple corruption allegations. Notably, MP Raghav Chadha has joined the BJP, with other MPs from Punjab expected to follow suit.

Hegde predicted that this shift would significantly impact the upcoming Punjab assembly elections, leading to a defeat for AAP and a victory for the BJP. He emphasized that AAP has suffered a substantial blow.

He further criticized Kejriwal’s claims of integrity, highlighting the contradiction of living in a lavish ₹50 crore home while failing to manage the administration effectively. Hegde suggested that such discrepancies lead voters to question the extent of corruption within AAP.

Lastly, he addressed the issue of making the Marathi language mandatory for rickshaw and cab drivers in Maharashtra, stating that the transport minister’s proposed law or rights should be adhered to.
