BJP Leader Calls for Demolition of Mosque Near Mumbai Airport, Accuses Opponents of Land Jihad

Mumbai, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has announced that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has ordered the demolition of a mosque located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. He claims that there is a systematic effort to transform “Marathi Mumbai” into “Muslim Mumbai.”

Speaking to reporters, Somaiya alleged that Bangladeshi Muslims had previously settled near Bandra railway terminus, and now a mosque has been constructed close to the VIP gate of the airport, equipped with twelve air conditioners and thirty water taps.

“I have raised my voice against this,” Somaiya stated. He revealed that the MMRDA has warned the Mumbai Airport Authority regarding the mosque, labeling it illegal and stating that no permission was granted for its construction. The MMRDA has issued directives for its removal.

Somaiya further asserted that they are taking stringent measures against such constructions, which he refers to as “land jihad” under the guise of mosques, graves, or shrines in sensitive areas. “We will not tolerate this,” he declared, demanding a police investigation into the matter.

In his remarks, Somaiya also criticized opposition parties, claiming that the Congress and Uddhav Thackeray are willing to compromise national security for electoral gains. He shared a letter on the social media platform X, noting that the MMRDA has confirmed the mosque’s illegality and has instructed Mumbai International Airport Limited to demolish the structure immediately. He urged the authorities to file FIRs against the trustees and individuals involved in this “land jihad.”
