Korean Cultural Center Celebrates Holi and Traditional Korean Festival in New Delhi

New Delhi, March 3: The vibrant festival of Holi has officially begun, filling the air with colors and joy across the nation. This traditional celebration is being observed in unique ways in various locations.

In New Delhi, the Korean Cultural Center India hosted a special event to celebrate Holi, which also symbolizes the Korean festival ‘Jiyeongwol Daeboreum.’ This celebration creatively combined the festivities of India and Korea, attracting a significant number of young women.

During the event, many girls shared their experiences with a news agency, stating, “We study here and are celebrating both Holi and Daeboreum today. Daeboreum is a Korean festival similar to Holi.” They explained, “We celebrate Holi for good harvests and a prosperous life, which is also the purpose of Daeboreum.”

The girls elaborated, “Daeboreum represents the full moon. During this festival, we crack nuts, like walnuts, to symbolize new beginnings. We also celebrated Holi here with great enthusiasm.”

Attendees enjoyed traditional Korean sweets made from jaggery and rice. They also served tea with nuts, which was quite delicious.

The festival was marked by excitement as participants engaged in dance competitions, games, and various activities, joyfully applying colors to one another and dancing together.

‘Jiyeongwol Daeboreum’ is a traditional festival in the Korean lunar calendar, celebrated to wish for good harvests, health, and prosperity. Similar to Holi, it involves lighting bonfires, enjoying special traditional dishes, and sharing joy through folk games.
