Lucknow, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is taking significant steps to integrate cow protection with rural economy and self-reliance. This initiative goes beyond merely sheltering and caring for cows.
In a recent development, the Uttar Pradesh Cow Service Commission has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ‘Partners in Prosperity’ (PNP) to convert cow dung into clean energy, organic fertilizer, and income resources. This collaboration aims to provide technical support for the existing Dinbandhu model biogas plants and develop robust technical frameworks for future installations. A network of 1,000 technical experts will be established to ensure the scientific and economic use of cow dung, ultimately making cow shelters self-sufficient and vital centers for rural economies.
A key aspect of this agreement is the establishment of a grassroots technical mechanism. The phased network of technical personnel will assist in the setup, operation, maintenance, training, and field monitoring of Dinbandhu biogas plants. This local technical support will ensure the regular and effective functioning of these biogas facilities. The organization has already constructed over 3,900 Dinbandhu biogas units across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, providing comprehensive technical assistance from project development to monitoring.
The significance of this new initiative extends beyond just generating biogas from cow dung. It aims to create a complete ecosystem involving biogas, bio-slurry, organic fertilizers, and regenerative agriculture, thereby reducing dependency on chemical fertilizers while promoting natural farming practices. Plans are also in place to connect this model with environmental benefits and carbon projects in the future.
Shyam Bihari Gupta, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Cow Service Commission, emphasized the need to view cow dung not merely as waste but as a crucial resource for energy, organic farming, and rural income. Strengthening the Dinbandhu biogas model technically and implementing it on a larger scale can provide multifaceted benefits for cow shelters, farmers, and rural families. The goal is to develop a circular economy that links cow protection with clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and environmental benefits, ultimately enhancing productivity and creating job opportunities for farmers and rural communities.
This initiative is particularly significant as it connects cow protection to the economic cycle.
