Kolkata, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has broken her silence regarding an alleged attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) office by BJP workers. She has threatened to stage protests outside the homes of BJP leaders in New Delhi.
On Thursday evening, Banerjee went live on Facebook around 5 PM, accusing the BJP of sending goons to vandalize the TMC office located on Camac Street, which is led by her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, who is also a Member of Parliament for Diamond Harbour.
In her Facebook address, Banerjee stated, “The BJP sent goons to our party office early in the morning. All our documents and records were destroyed. Four of our workers were locked inside and were tortured. The Shakespeare Sarani police station is very close, yet no action was taken. We are monitoring the role of that police station and others. The BJP should remember that they will not always be in power.”
She elaborated on her plans to protest in the national capital regarding this incident and other issues. “If necessary, we will take our democratic protests to New Delhi. How long can they keep us from speaking out? How long will they continue their excesses? If these injustices do not stop, I will personally go to New Delhi and protest outside the homes of BJP leaders,” she declared.
Banerjee also accused the BJP-led West Bengal government of spreading misinformation about her security arrangements as a former Chief Minister. “The state government does not provide me with the security I am entitled to. Do not spread false information. My security was removed long ago, and now they are misleading people about it. I do not want any security from you,” she asserted.
Moreover, she claimed that since the West Bengal Assembly elections earlier this year, the BJP has forcibly taken control of over 4,000 TMC offices across the state. “They are filing new FIRs against us every day. I want to warn them that they will tire of filing FIRs, but they will not be able to stop us,” she said.
TMC leaders are gearing up for a significant confrontation with the BJP as tensions escalate in the political landscape of West Bengal.
