Lucknow, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is focusing on digitally empowering youth and preparing them for employment. The Backward Classes Welfare Department has introduced a free O-Level and CCC computer training scheme aimed at economically disadvantaged OBC youth, providing them with vital technical education.
This year, more than 31,000 trainees are enrolled in the program, gaining access to modern technical knowledge and employability skills. For the financial year 2026-27, the scheme has been allocated a budget of ₹400 million. As of now, 31,602 trainees are participating, with the majority in the O-Level course (24,240) and the CCC course (7,362). Training commenced on August 11, following a successful application phase that attracted over 70,000 submissions, primarily for O-Level training.
The initiative offers modern computer education at no cost to financially disadvantaged OBC youth, significantly enhancing their technical skills and job prospects. Eligibility for the program requires candidates to have completed intermediate education or higher, while their parents’ annual income must not exceed ₹100,000.
Training is conducted through institutions accredited by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). Currently, 338 training centers are affiliated with the scheme across the state. Among these, 63 offer only O-Level courses, 39 focus on CCC, and 236 provide both. This extensive network ensures that youth can access computer training conveniently in their local areas. The government subsidizes training costs, paying up to ₹15,000 per O-Level student and ₹3,500 per CCC student, alleviating the financial burden on economically weaker families.
This initiative plays a crucial role in extending technical education to rural and semi-urban areas, aligning youth with the evolving digital economy. The free computer training, robust institutional framework, and high participation rates make this program a commendable step towards providing job-oriented education.
Umesh Pratap Singh, Director of the Backward Classes Welfare Department, stated that over 31,000 trainees are currently benefiting from the program. The government aims to foster self-reliance among youth by equipping them with digital knowledge and marketable skills. A network of 338 institutions has been established to facilitate training in accessible locations.
