Key Stakeholder Meeting on Effective Implementation of the Peace Act 2025 Held by NITI Aayog

New Delhi, July 11: NITI Aayog convened a significant stakeholder consultation meeting focused on the effective implementation of the ‘Peace Act 2025.’ Experts from the government, research institutions, and the industry provided insights on various aspects of the law, aimed at strengthening its implementation framework.
According to NITI Aayog, the meeting saw participation from key experts connected to the government, policymakers, research institutions, and the industry. The primary goal of the discussions was to make the operation of the Peace Act 2025 effective and practical.
The discussions were structured around three essential pillars necessary for the successful implementation of the law.
First, the legislative and regulatory framework. This session delved into the draft rules, regulations, and provisions related to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) prepared under the Peace Act 2025. Experts discussed the process of statutory compliance under the law and explored ways to attract foreign investment while ensuring the country’s strategic and national interests remain secure.
Second, finance, insurance, and public trust. This session addressed the financial arrangements and risk management necessary for the successful implementation of the law. Strategies for developing suitable insurance arrangements for long-term nuclear energy projects and increasing public awareness, trust, and acceptance of nuclear energy initiatives were also considered.
Third, manufacturing, operations, and capacity building, which focused on the operational processes post-enactment of the law. This session emphasized enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities, strengthening project operational preparations, and developing skilled human resources.
Stakeholders also suggested creating specialized capacity-building programs to strengthen and make the supply chain more resilient, facilitating industry expansion.
The meeting was chaired by NITI Aayog member Professor Abhay Karandikar.
The Peace Act 2025 aims to make India self-reliant in the nuclear energy sector and achieve the clean energy goals set under the Vision for Developed India 2047. Through this law, responsible participation from the private sector and joint ventures will be ensured, helping to address resource shortages, complete projects on time, and achieve the national target of developing 100 gigawatts of nuclear energy capacity by 2047. Importantly, there will be no compromise on national security and public interest.
