Thiruvananthapuram, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Kerala Police has launched a new initiative to honor officers and citizens who demonstrate exceptional dedication, bravery, investigative skills, or exemplary conduct. Each month, individuals who have significantly contributed to public safety or assisted the police will also be recognized.
These honors will take place on the fourth Saturday of each month, designated as ‘Appreciation Day’ across all police districts in the state. The initiative aims to acknowledge good work, boost the morale of police personnel, and encourage public participation in policing.
P. Vijayan, the Additional Director General of Police for Law and Order, has instructed all district police chiefs to organize ‘Appreciation Day’ events at district or unit headquarters. During these events, officers who have provided outstanding service or shown exceptional commitment in the previous month will be honored.
Selected individuals may include officers who have displayed exemplary conduct, demonstrated investigative skills, performed acts of bravery, or shown remarkable dedication to their duties. Citizens contributing significantly to public safety or providing invaluable assistance to the police will also be eligible for recognition.
Recognition may take the form of certificates, mementos, or other appropriate accolades. These events are expected to involve police personnel, colleagues, and the general public, providing a platform to acknowledge the commendable efforts of both police officers and citizens.
District police chiefs have been directed to participate in these programs, and the Zonal Inspector General and Range Deputy Inspector General have also been encouraged to attend whenever possible. If, for any reason, the event cannot be held on the fourth Saturday, it should be conducted earlier in the same month.
The directive also stipulates that each district maintain a monthly record of honored officers and citizens, detailing the specific work or contributions for which they were recognized. Reports and photographs from the events must be submitted to the Law and Order ADGP before the first day of the following month.
