Poonch, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : A police team in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, executed a raid on a jewelry store, uncovering ammunition and items linked to Pakistan. This operation took place on a Friday evening in the main market area.
Authorities reported that the raid was conducted in collaboration with a forensic science laboratory team and an executive magistrate. The operation targeted a jewelry shop owned by Davinder Singh, son of Narinder Singh, located in the Khorinar Mohalla area of Poonch.
During the search, law enforcement officials claimed to have recovered AK-47 rounds, 105 Pakistani rupees, Pakistani posters, and flags. The raid concluded around 10 PM.
This action is part of a broader anti-terrorism campaign in Poonch, aimed at dismantling financial support networks linked to cross-border terrorism. Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, recently reviewed security measures in Poonch, focusing on ongoing anti-terror operations in the Pir Panjal region.
In a related incident, the Indian Army recently neutralized two terrorists attempting to infiltrate near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch. Security forces also discovered a terrorist hideout in the Surankote sector, where they seized improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and communication equipment.
Over the past 18 months, there has been a notable increase in threats and militant activities in Poonch, prompting coordinated operations by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Special Operations Group (SOG). The police have also confiscated properties belonging to terror handlers and declared criminals under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Enemy Property Act.
Efforts to cut off financial and logistical assistance to terrorist networks have led to the seizure of properties linked to cross-border handlers, including Rafiq Nai, a commander of the Tehrik-ul-Mujahideen/Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force, and Abdul Aziz.
