Karnataka to Officially Celebrate Engineers Day Starting Next Year

Bengaluru, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Karnataka’s Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced on September 15 that the state government will officially celebrate Engineer’s Day starting next year. This initiative aims to recognize the vital contributions of engineers to the development of the state and the nation.

Shivakumar made this announcement during a tribute at the statue of Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya in Bengaluru’s K.R. Circle. The day commemorates Visvesvaraya’s birthday, which is observed as Engineer’s Day across India.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister confirmed that the proposal to officially recognize Engineer’s Day had been presented by the state government and received his approval. He highlighted that Karnataka trains over 100,000 engineers each year, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging their contributions.

“Engineers are the foundation of development,” Shivakumar stated, noting their crucial role in turning scientific discoveries into practical applications. He expressed that it is essential for engineers to consider the development needs of every corner of the state.

The Chief Minister further explained that while engineers are traditionally recognized for their contributions to architecture and infrastructure, their roles have expanded significantly with advancements in technology. Today, engineers play critical roles in sectors such as energy, construction, and information technology.

Visvesvaraya, one of India’s most renowned engineers and politicians, is celebrated for his pioneering work in engineering, irrigation, and public infrastructure. Shivakumar’s tribute at K.R. Circle honored Visvesvaraya’s legacy and his invaluable contributions to Karnataka.
