Karnataka Government Criticized for Ignoring PM Modis Security Breach

Bengaluru, May 11: Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje has sharply criticized the Karnataka government regarding a security lapse during Prime Minister Modi’s visit. She stated that instead of addressing the security breach, the state government is preoccupied with responding to the Prime Minister’s speeches and comments.

Karandlaje questioned the state government’s priorities, asking, “What are you focusing on? Discussing PM Modi’s speech or how the security breach occurred? How did gelatin reach the Prime Minister’s route? Where did all these cables come from, and who placed them there?”

She emphasized that the government should have discussed this serious issue, but they have failed to do so. Instead, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister are engaged in discussions about the Prime Minister’s visit and remarks, neglecting the critical aspect of his security.

The Minister accused the Congress-led state government of viewing PM Modi as the Prime Minister of the BJP rather than the entire country. “He is the Prime Minister of India, not just of one party. When Manmohan Singh was Prime Minister, we recognized him as the Prime Minister of the nation, not just as a Congress leader. They should have been alert regarding the Prime Minister’s security, but they are not paying attention,” she said.

Karandlaje pointed out that while the Prime Minister is in Karnataka, the state government is not taking his security seriously. Over 100 inspectors and sub-inspectors have been transferred, and that list continues to circulate on social media. Despite the Prime Minister’s ongoing visit, the state government appears indifferent.

She noted that there is an internal power struggle within Karnataka’s government, with discussions suggesting that Siddaramaiah will serve as Chief Minister for five years, with D.K. Shivakumar taking over mid-term. The Congress party is internally divided, with factions supporting both leaders and some opposing them. Overall, there are four factions, indicating that the Congress is more focused on power than on the state’s development.

Commenting on the delay in announcing a Chief Minister in Kerala, where the Congress holds a majority, she remarked that discussions are ongoing about who will be chosen, with preferences from Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi being speculated.

Regarding the controversy surrounding “Vande Mataram,” Karandlaje stated that it is not a contentious issue. “Vande Mataram inspired millions during the freedom struggle and encouraged sacrifices. Its slogan, along with ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai,’ played a crucial role in the fight for independence across the country, including Tamil Nadu.”

She also supported PM Modi’s appeal to the citizens during a gathering in Hyderabad.
