Pune, August 15: The 16th Hockey India Junior Women’s National Championship 2026 showcased thrilling matches on Saturday in Pune, featuring teams from Karnataka, Bihar, Mizoram, Assam, Gujarat, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
In Pool B, Hockey Karnataka achieved the day’s biggest victory, defeating Hockey Uttarakhand 6-1. Meanwhile, Hockey Bihar delivered a commanding performance against Goan Hockey, winning 6-0. In Division B, Pool A, Hockey Mizoram triumphed over Kerala Hockey with a score of 2-0, while Assam Hockey edged out Hockey Andhra Pradesh 2-1. Karnataka dominated against Uttarakhand, with captain Manisha Ponnamma CD scoring a hat trick in the 19th, 42nd, and 46th minutes.
For Karnataka, Pearlina Ponnamma A.G (23rd minute), Mehr Kaur Mehta (24th minute), and Vaishnavi Arul (25th minute) also found the back of the net. Uttarakhand’s lone goal came from Upadhyay Kashish in the 29th minute. Hockey Bihar secured an easy 6-0 victory over Goan Hockey, with Siddhi Kumari opening the scoring in the 23rd minute, followed by Khushi Kumari doubling the lead four minutes later.
Khushi completed her hat trick with goals in the 37th and 43rd minutes, while Siddhi added another goal in the 37th minute. Anjali Kumari sealed the win with a goal in the 46th minute. Hockey Mizoram also maintained a clean sheet, defeating Kerala Hockey 2-0. Loisi Laltanpui scored in the 15th minute, and Jothanmawi doubled the lead in the 29th minute.
Assam Hockey made a comeback to defeat Hockey Andhra Pradesh 2-1 after trailing. Andhra Pradesh took the lead in the 58th minute with a goal from Rajeshwari Vyadadi Sai Dhana, but Tanya Chaurasia scored twice in the final moments, in the 48th and 60th minutes, to secure victory for Assam.
In Division C, Pool B, Hockey Gujarat triumphed over Puducherry Hockey 3-1. Dhruviba Parmar scored two goals in the 2nd and 35th minutes, while Jadeja Bhavanaba added another in the 36th minute. Karishma Das scored the only goal for Puducherry in the 27th minute.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Hockey defeated Hockey Arunachal 2-0 in Division C, Pool A, with goals from Gupta Shreyanshi and Supriya Chauhan in the 45th and 48th minutes, respectively. Hockey Rajasthan and Hockey Jammu and Kashmir also secured 5-0 victories against Tripura Olympic Association and Telangana Hockey due to walkovers.
