Mumbai, October 13 (Daily Kiran): Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 continues its unstoppable run at the Indian box office, surpassing some of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema history. The Kannada-language action drama has now overtaken ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ and ‘Salaar – Part 1’ in lifetime domestic collections, setting a new benchmark for regional films nationwide.

As per box office reports, Kantara Chapter 1 has earned a staggering ₹438.42 crore across India till Sunday and continues to draw strong crowds in its fourth week. The film’s first part was a major hit, and its sequel seems to be racing ahead even faster.
Weekend Box Office Report
During the latest weekend, the film collected ₹22.25 crore on Friday, followed by a remarkable ₹39 crore on Saturday, showing a 75.28% jump in earnings. On Sunday, it added ₹39.77 crore, a slight growth of 1.97% from Saturday. With these figures, Kantara Chapter 1 has now surpassed the lifetime collections of both Salaar – Part 1 (₹406.45 crore) and Baahubali: The Beginning (₹420 crore).
Records Broken
With its soaring box office numbers, Kantara Chapter 1 has also beaten several Bollywood giants, including:
-
Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ (₹387.38 crore)
-
Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ (₹348.55 crore)
-
Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Sanju’ (₹342.57 crore)
The film’s extraordinary performance, achieved without a massive marketing campaign or big-budget star power, underlines Rishab Shetty’s growing influence as a storyteller and director in Indian cinema.

‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ Struggles at the Box Office
In contrast, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, released alongside Kantara Chapter 1, continues to struggle. The film has failed to cross the ₹50 crore mark even after 12 days of release and is still fighting to recover its production cost. Despite an IMDb rating of 6.4, audience turnout remains tepid.
Meanwhile, Kantara Chapter 1 continues to dominate multiplexes and single screens alike, with trade analysts predicting it could soon cross the ₹450 crore mark if the current trend continues.
