K.C. Tyagi Distances Himself from Nitish Kumar, Plans New Political Path

Patna, March 17: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has secured his position in the Rajya Sabha, paving the way for his entry into the upper house. Meanwhile, his longtime associate and senior Janata Dal (United) leader K.C. Tyagi is preparing to part ways with him. Tyagi has not renewed his party membership following the conclusion of the JD(U) membership drive.

Reports indicate that on March 22, Tyagi will hold a meeting in New Delhi with like-minded individuals, including political friends, well-wishers, and activists, to discuss the current political landscape of the country. Sources suggest that the meeting will focus on strategizing and planning future actions.

It is noteworthy that the JD(U) was formed on October 30, 2003, through the merger of the Samata Party and Janata Dal. George Fernandes served as the party president, while K.C. Tyagi worked alongside him as the general secretary. Tyagi has collaborated with Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar for many years, holding various roles including chief general secretary, chief spokesperson, and political advisor.

K.C. Tyagi has been regarded as a senior leader within the JD(U) and has been close to Nitish Kumar. However, reports suggest that their relationship has soured over the past few months. On Tuesday, Tyagi publicly announced his decision to distance himself from the party.

It is important to note that Tyagi has maintained a distance from the JD(U) for some time, and his statements have not been given much weight within the party. Although he has not officially resigned from the JD(U), he has confirmed that his membership has lapsed and he chose not to renew it.

He emphasized that his commitment to the interests of marginalized communities, farmers, and agricultural issues remains as strong as ever.
