Jodor and Auger-Aliassime Advance in Shanghai Masters After Thrilling Comebacks

Shanghai, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Rafael Jodor and Felix Auger-Aliassime made impressive comebacks in their second-round matches at the Shanghai Masters, securing spots in the round of 32.

Jodor, the 12th seed, faced Thiago Agustin Tirante and rallied after dropping the first set to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. This tournament marks a significant moment for Jodor, who has climbed from outside the top 100 in January to 13th place, aiming for a spot in the top 10. He previously won his first tour-level title in Marrakech in April 2026 and reached the quarter-finals at the French Open. However, after early exits at the 2026 US Open and the recent Japan Open, a strong performance in Shanghai was crucial for him.

After losing the first set, Jodor bounced back impressively, winning 93% of his first serve points in the second set. He saved nine of ten break points against him and broke his opponent’s serve three times to secure the win.

Auger-Aliassime also had to dig deep in his match against Camilo Ugo Carabelli, which lasted nearly three hours. After initially taking a 5-2 lead in the second set, he lost momentum, leading to a tiebreak. However, he won the tiebreak and ultimately triumphed 4-6, 7-6(1), 7-5 to advance to the next round.

Earlier in the day, Daniil Medvedev also showcased his resilience by defeating Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. After dropping the first set, Medvedev improved his performance, winning the next two sets. With this victory, he has now secured 31 wins on hard courts in 2026 and has previously claimed titles in Dubai, Brisbane, and Hangzhou. Medvedev, the 2019 Shanghai Masters champion, will face either Tomas Martin Etcheverry or Dalibor Svrcina in the next round.

This year’s Shanghai Masters is proving to be a platform for thrilling matches and remarkable comebacks.
