Bangladesh Announces 16-Member Squad for Tri-Series in UAE

New Delhi, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Bangladesh has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming triangular ODI series in the UAE, featuring Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. The team will be captained by Liton Das, who was appointed as the ODI captain earlier this year in preparation for the ICC Men’s World Cup 2027.

In a round-robin format, each team will play against one another before the final on October 23. Towhid Hridoy has been named vice-captain for this series.

Former ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz is included in the squad, bringing his spin bowling expertise. He will be joined by Hasan Mahmud, who played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s historic Test victory against Australia in Darwin.

A new addition to the team is off-spinner Alis Al Islam, who made his T20 international debut at the 2026 Asian Games. Alis had a notable performance against Sri Lanka, taking one wicket for 18 runs in four overs, and he will have the opportunity to make his ODI debut in this series.

Notably absent from the squad is fast bowler Nahid Rana, who is recovering from a side strain. Rana has previously taken eight wickets in five T20 matches for Bangladesh.

The series will kick off with a match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Following this, Afghanistan will face Zimbabwe on October 19, and then Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan on October 21. All matches will take place in Abu Dhabi.
