Hardik Pandya: The Unsung Hero of T20 World Cup 2024

New Delhi, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has consistently demonstrated his remarkable capabilities on the cricket field. Known for his prowess with both bat and ball, as well as his fielding skills, he plays a crucial role in leading India to victory. Finding a fast-bowling all-rounder of his caliber is rare, not only in India but globally.

Pandya shines in high-pressure situations, particularly during major tournaments. Leading up to the T20 World Cup 2024, he faced challenges with his form and personal life. However, he rose to the occasion during the World Cup, delivering a memorable performance that helped India secure its second title since 2007. In the final, he played a pivotal role by dismissing the dangerous David Miller, ensuring India’s championship win.

Throughout the tournament, Pandya amassed 144 runs and took eight wickets across eight matches. His contributions continued to shine in subsequent tournaments, including the Champions Trophy 2025 and T20 World Cup 2026, where he played a significant role in leading India to victory.

Born on October 11, 1993, in Choryasi, Gujarat, the 33-year-old has made his mark in all three formats of the game. However, he has prioritized white-ball cricket. He made his Test debut in July 2017 but played his last Test match in September 2018, accumulating 532 runs and 17 wickets in 11 Tests.

Pandya debuted in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20s in 2016 and has been a regular contributor in both formats since. In 94 ODIs, he has scored 1,904 runs, including 11 half-centuries, and taken 91 wickets. In T20s, he has scored 2,288 runs, with nine half-centuries, and claimed 114 wickets in 138 matches.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pandya has proven himself both as a player and captain. He won titles with the Mumbai Indians and led the Gujarat Titans to victory in their inaugural season. Currently, he serves as the captain of the Mumbai Indians.

At present, Pandya is in the recovery phase following an injury.
