Job Fair for Veterans Scheduled on March 17 in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, March 6: The Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR) under the Ministry of Defence will host a large job fair for veterans on March 17 at the 12 Wing Air Force Station. An official announced this on Friday.

According to an officer from the Indian Army’s Western Command, veterans will have the opportunity to explore job openings in various sectors, including logistics, manufacturing, security services, administration, and technical fields.

The job fair will take place at the Arjan Singh Auditorium, starting at 7 AM. Veterans are required to bring their identification and five copies of their resumes.

The DGR shared on the social media platform X that the job fair will offer numerous benefits to industry employers, including free online registration, free job postings, complimentary stall allocations, and free access to veterans’ resumes. In a separate event earlier in January, DGR organized a significant job fair for veterans at the Narangi Military Station in Guwahati.

Over 50 major corporate organizations participated in that event, providing nearly 700 job vacancies across various sectors, including logistics, manufacturing, security services, administration, hospitality, and technical fields.

More than 700 veterans from Assam and neighboring states attended the fair, engaging directly with recruiters and showcasing the professional skills, discipline, and leadership qualities they acquired during their military careers.

Notable guests at the job fair included Major (Retired) Roopam Talukdar from the corporate sector and Lieutenant General Mohit Vadhwa from the military. Both emphasized the valuable traits of veterans, such as integrity, adaptability, and team leadership, which are highly regarded in the corporate world.

The Director General of the Directorate General of Resettlement, Major General SBK Singh, and the Chairman of the State Soldier Board, Brigadier (Retired) Polash Chaudhary, were also present, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to honorable rehabilitation and long-term livelihood security for war veterans.
