New Delhi, April 4: The hearing on the bail petition of Leena Maria, the wife of accused Sukesh Chandrashekhar, in a ₹200 crore fraud case has been postponed by the Delhi High Court. The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 6.
During the previous hearing, the High Court completed arguments on Leena Maria’s bail plea filed under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) and reserved its decision. However, discussions regarding the money laundering aspects will continue.
In earlier proceedings, Leena’s counsel argued that her relationship with Sukesh Chandrashekhar has deteriorated. The defense also claimed that Sukesh is involved with another woman. When the court inquired about the identity of this woman, Leena’s lawyer mentioned actress Jacqueline Fernandez, which further fueled media attention.
Notably, Leena Maria was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police in September 2021. Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also arrested her on money laundering charges. Investigating agencies are examining Leena’s involvement in the alleged ₹200 crore fraud orchestrated by Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
The upcoming hearing on the bail petition is highly anticipated, with significant public interest in the case. Sukesh Chandrashekhar faces allegations of defrauding ₹200 crore, a matter that has garnered considerable media coverage.
