
Srinagar, August 18: A significant opportunity has emerged for those preparing for government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has announced the recruitment of 70 Assistant Professor positions in the Higher Education Department, specifically targeting residents of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The 70 Assistant Professor positions are distributed across various subjects, including 1 in English Literature, 1 in Mathematics, 2 in Chemistry, 1 in Sociology, 23 in Political Science, 1 in Geology, 1 in Persian, 1 in Arabic, 6 in Punjabi, 3 in Anthropology, 1 in Clinical Biochemistry, 1 in Nutrition, 2 in Water Management, 3 in Kashmiri, 3 in Agricultural Technology, 2 in Functional English, 1 in Industrial Chemistry, 1 in Islamic Studies, 2 in Music and Instruments, 2 in Information Technology, 1 in Horticultural Technology, 2 in Music, 7 in Statistics, and 3 in Veterinary Technology.
The online application process began on August 1 and will close on August 31. Eligible candidates interested in these positions can complete their registration on the official JKPSC website before the deadline. Additionally, a correction window for applicants who make mistakes while filling out the application will be available from September 1 to September 3.
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in the relevant subject from a recognized institution or university, with a minimum of 55% marks. The maximum age limit for applicants is set at 40 years, calculated as of January 1, 2026. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per government rules.
Selection of eligible candidates will be based on a written examination, document verification, and other stages. The monthly salary for selected candidates will range from ₹15,600 to ₹39,100, along with an Academic Grade Pay (AGP) of ₹6,000 (pre-revision) or ₹57,000 under Level-10.
When applying, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee online, which is ₹1,200 for the general category and ₹700 for reserved categories. Candidates with disabilities are exempt from the registration fee.
