Mumbai, April 14:
Users of 4G feature phones have faced challenges accessing banking mobile applications. This is set to change for JioPhone users. The JioPhone Prima 4G, equipped with a physical keypad, now offers a solution. While banking apps are readily available on smartphones, feature phone users have been left out. To bridge this gap, Reliance Jio has teamed up with Bank of Baroda to introduce a dedicated app for these users.
The app, named ‘bob World Lite,’ is specifically designed for the JioPhone Prima 4G. This initiative aims to provide millions of Indians, who opt for this affordable device, with access to digital banking services. JioPhone Prima 4G users can already utilize UPI (Unified Payments Interface) for digital transactions, marking a significant advancement for feature phone users in India.
With the bob World Lite app, users will enjoy features such as UPI-enabled Scan and Pay, Send Money, Bill Payments, Recharges, and profile management. Additional functionalities are expected to be rolled out in future updates. Notably, the app will be pre-loaded on the phone’s home screen for easy access.
Sunil Dutt, President of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, stated, “At Jio, we have always focused on expanding the reach of digital services to every Indian, with affordability at the core. The JioPhone has been central to realizing that vision, providing affordable devices and digital services to millions across India, while promoting digital democratization and inclusion. Our partnership with Bank of Baroda marks a significant step forward, enabling seamless digital banking access for millions of users. We are committed to delivering full-featured banking to JioPhone users securely and tailored to their needs.”
