Jharkhand Likely to Receive Good Rainfall This Month as Well

Ranchi, August 2 (H.S.) — Most districts of Jharkhand are expected to receive good rainfall during the month of August. According to the Meteorological Department, some areas may witness heavy rainfall, while others may experience light showers.

Rain is likely in several parts of the state on August 3 and 4, accompanied by lightning and strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h. In view of this, the weather department has issued a yellow alert.

From June 1 to August 1, Jharkhand recorded 770.7 mm of rainfall compared to the average of 517 mm — which is 49% above normal.

Twelve districts have received the highest rainfall so far. These include East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Ranchi, Khunti, Palamu, Latehar, Simdega, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Jamtara, Dhanbad, and Seraikela-Kharsawan.

In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in East Tundi of Dhanbad district at 96 mm. Ranchi recorded 24 mm of rainfall during the same period.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C in Ranchi, 32.4°C in Jamshedpur, 31.4°C in Daltonganj, 31°C in Bokaro, and 33°C in Chaibasa.
