Jharkhand Administration Closes Petrol Pump Over Extra Charges for Fuel

Garhwa, May 18: The administration in Garhwa district, Jharkhand, has taken action against a petrol pump following a viral video that showed employees demanding extra charges for petrol and diesel in containers. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Garhwa stated that the authorities acted after investigating the incident depicted in the video.

SDM Sanjay Pandey reported that the petrol pump was sealed after the investigation confirmed the allegations. He mentioned that the administration had already initiated an inquiry upon noticing the viral video, and subsequently received orders from higher officials to conduct a thorough investigation.

The responsibility for the investigation was assigned to the Circle Officer and the Block Supply Officer. A report from the investigation was submitted, leading to the sealing of the petrol pump by several officials, including the District Supply Officer and the local police chief.

Pandey further explained that the stock at the petrol pump was checked and found to be low. Indian Oil officials have also been informed, and a notice has been issued to the petrol pump.

According to the SDM, a meeting was held with all petrol pump operators in the area. He assured that there is no shortage of petrol in the region. If one petrol pump runs out of fuel, others in the vicinity should have it available. He instructed that petrol pumps without fuel must display a board indicating the situation.

The incident came to light when a video surfaced showing a petrol pump employee demanding extra money for fuel, including diesel used for agricultural purposes. The viral video prompted a swift response from the administration, leading to the closure of the petrol pump.
