Patna, June 10: Rajiv Ranjan, spokesperson for the Janata Dal United (JD(U)), addressed various political issues on Wednesday. He discussed the potential entry of Chirag Paswan in the Uttar Pradesh elections, the controversy surrounding Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination, Nishant Kumar’s educational qualifications, law and order in UP, and the political landscape in Bihar.
When asked about Chirag Paswan’s possible entry into the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Ranjan stated that any political party has the right to choose where to contest elections. He emphasized that JD(U) does not have a stance on this matter; it is up to the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) to respond.
Regarding the cancellation of Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination papers, Ranjan remarked that any errors in the nomination documents are ultimately decided by the returning officer, and this issue should not be politicized. He expressed surprise at the political discourse surrounding it, asserting that the returning officer’s decision should be final.
In response to questions raised by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) about Nishant Kumar’s educational qualifications, Ranjan clarified that Kumar has completed five out of eight semesters in engineering. He highlighted the importance of Kumar’s connection with the people of Bihar and the legacy left by Nitish Kumar over the past two decades, suggesting that public expectations are tied to Kumar’s future.
On the concerns regarding law and order in Uttar Pradesh, Ranjan defended Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government, stating that law enforcement is strict against criminals. He asserted that the rule of law prevails in the state and that the current administration is far from the previous regime led by the Samajwadi Party.
Commenting on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s recent statements regarding ED raids on businessmen in Punjab, Ranjan stated that if a matter falls under investigation, the relevant agencies should take action. He emphasized that the police must conduct thorough investigations based on any allegations.
Regarding remarks made by TMC MP Mahua Moitra about Yusuf Pathan, Ranjan stated that elected representatives have the right to make decisions considering public expectations. He noted that it is a politician’s prerogative to determine what the public expects from them.
When asked about Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde holding a significant party meeting in Delhi, Ranjan remarked that every political party works towards strengthening its organization. He affirmed that parties have the freedom to pursue their agendas and expand as they see fit.
In response to controversial comments made by Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav about Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Ranjan expressed strong disapproval. He accused Yadav of disrespecting the public mandate and suggested that Yadav lacks an understanding of the weight of his words. He reminded that the public has granted the mandate to Nitish Kumar to serve Bihar, and Chaudhary is now continuing that legacy as the elected leader of the legislative party.
