Beijing, February 19: China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, issued a stern warning to Japan on Wednesday. He stated that if Japan intervenes in the Taiwan issue, China will deliver a “strong response.”

Speaking at a UN General Assembly meeting, Fu Cong criticized Japanese leaders for allegedly going against historical trends. He pointed out that Japan has publicly linked China’s Taiwan to its so-called “national survival crisis” and discussed how it might respond based on the US-Japan alliance. Fu Cong claimed that Japan is planning military intervention in Taiwan under the guise of a so-called “right to collective self-defense.”

Fu Cong clarified that Japan’s arguments are legally invalid and contradict its international obligations as a defeated nation after World War II. He emphasized that these notions violate the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and urged all peace-loving nations to remain vigilant.

He asserted that if Japan uses the so-called “right to collective self-defense” as an excuse to intervene in Taiwan, it would be considered an act of aggression against China. Fu Cong warned that China would respond decisively to any such actions.
