Patna, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Political activity is heating up in Bihar as the state prepares for elections to the Legislative Council’s teacher and graduate constituencies. On Sunday, Jan Suraj announced its candidates for five seats, a move led by party strategist and Bankipur MLA Prashant Kishor in Patna.
The candidates include SP Rai for the Darbhanga teacher constituency, Ravindra Yadav for the Darbhanga graduate constituency, Afak Ahmed for the Saran teacher constituency, Divya Jyoti for the Patna teacher constituency, and Rajneesh Ranjan for the Kosi graduate constituency. Earlier, the party indicated plans to contest all eight available seats.
On September 11, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) had already declared its nominees for six of the eight seats. The RJD’s candidates are Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh for the Patna teacher constituency, Dilip Kumar for the Patna graduate constituency, Nitesh Kumar for the Kosi graduate constituency, Anil Kumar Jha for the Darbhanga graduate constituency, Prof. Jairam Yadav for the Saran teacher constituency, and Dr. Rashmi Vinayak Gautam for the Tirhut graduate constituency. The RJD has yet to announce candidates for the Darbhanga teacher and Tirhut teacher seats.
The current members’ terms for these eight seats will end on November 16. The constituencies include teacher seats from Patna, Darbhanga, Saran, and Tirhut, as well as graduate seats from Patna, Darbhanga, Kosi, and Tirhut. With Jan Suraj entering the fray, the competition for these seats is expected to become more intense and multifaceted.
Meanwhile, the NDA is preparing to field candidates supported by the BJP and JDU. Additionally, the Mahagathbandhan, which includes the RJD, Congress, and leftist parties, is also announcing candidates for various seats, raising the stakes for seat coordination. As Jan Suraj reveals its five candidates, all eyes will be on the remaining candidates from the NDA and other parties in the lead-up to the elections.
