Chinas Extravehicular Spacesuit Technology Achieves Global Leadership

Tianjin, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : China’s extravehicular spacesuit technology has reached a leading international standard, according to information shared at the first Space Medicine Engineering Conference held in Tianjin on September 19.

The development of lunar spacesuits is progressing smoothly, with numerous key technologies successfully implemented. These suits are essential for astronauts conducting activities in space, and only a handful of countries possess the capability to develop them independently.

Since the inception of its space station missions, China has achieved breakthroughs in critical areas such as human suit safety, information transmission, and health assessment. These advancements have enabled astronauts to set a world record for a single spacewalk lasting nine hours and to complete 20 spacewalks in four years using the same suit.

Currently, the lunar landing phase of China’s crewed lunar exploration project has fully commenced, with plans for Chinese astronauts to land on the moon for the first time before 2030.
