
Jammu, June 13: In anticipation of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra (SANJAY-2026), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joginder Singh conducted a crucial meeting to review and enhance security arrangements at the district police lines. The meeting focused on security management and coordination among various agencies involved in the event.
Senior officials from the Jammu district police, CRPF, BSF, SSB, ITBP, intelligence agencies, civil administration, traffic police, telecommunications departments, and disaster management authorities participated in the discussions. Emphasis was placed on ensuring better coordination among all parties for a safe and peaceful pilgrimage.
During the meeting, the SSP stressed the need for heightened vigilance. He instructed all relevant agencies to increase patrols, conduct surprise checks, and ensure the strategic deployment of Quick Reaction Teams for immediate action in emergencies. Key topics discussed included law and order management, traffic regulation, crowd control, border security, emergency response mechanisms, and inter-agency coordination.
A particular focus was placed on technology-based security measures, including improved CCTV surveillance, real-time monitoring through an integrated control room, and strengthening communication networks for rapid information sharing and response.
The SSP highlighted the importance of community involvement and public cooperation in maintaining a safe environment during the pilgrimage. Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police unit or control room immediately.
Representatives from intelligence agencies shared recent security insights and assessments. It was agreed that timely intelligence sharing, regular joint coordination drills, and close monitoring of sensitive areas would be primary priorities during the Yatra.
Instructions were also given to conduct mock drills, strengthen security checkpoints, review contingency plans, and hold weekly review meetings at the sub-divisional level to assess preparations and address emerging challenges.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the SSP reiterated that ensuring the safety of pilgrims and residents is the top priority. Proactive policing, strong inter-agency coordination, and active public cooperation will play a crucial role in maintaining peace, security, and stability in Jammu district during the pilgrimage.
