Jammu and Kashmir Police Arrests 10 Drug Traffickers in Anantnag

Anantnag, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Jammu and Kashmir police have made significant strides in combating drug trafficking in Anantnag, arresting ten individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to police reports, multiple operations led to the registration of ten FIRs (First Information Reports) in the district. Authorities seized cannabis, its powder form, and suspected heroin during these operations. The arrests were made during routine checks and patrols at various locations throughout the district.

In the Larnu area, police recovered approximately 2.393 kilograms of cannabis from Mohammad Iqbal Dangroo. In the Arwani region, two suspects from West Bengal, Mukhtar Ali and Dolal Ali, were arrested with cannabis in their possession, leading to FIRs filed at the Bijbehara police station.

At the Haatigam crossing in Shrigufwara, police seized around 55 grams of cannabis and 86 grams of cannabis powder from Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat. Meanwhile, at the Krad Bridge in Utrasu, officers apprehended Mohammad Arif Magre with approximately 15 grams of a cannabis-like substance.

In a separate operation, the Mattan police recovered about 90.2 grams of cannabis from Mohammad Ashraf Ganai near the Bamzu footbridge. Additionally, at the Bondialgam crossing, police seized around 8 grams of a cannabis-like substance from Fayaz Ahmad Magre. The police also stopped a vehicle at the Shehli Pora crossing in Achabal, discovering approximately 8.4 grams of a substance resembling heroin. The driver, Irshad Ahmad Ganai, was arrested, and the vehicle was confiscated.

In another incident in Akhingam, police found about 18.4 grams of cannabis with Firoz Ahmad Sofi, while at the Chirpora Bridge in Utrasu, 12 grams of cannabis were seized from Ejaz Ahmad Lone.

The police stated that cases have been registered against the accused under various sections of the NDPS Act. Investigations are ongoing to uncover potential links to a broader drug trafficking network and gather additional information.
