Jammu, August 20: Sunil Sharma, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, along with BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, launched a verbal attack on Congress regarding American diplomat Sergio Gore’s statement about Jammu and Kashmir, the ‘Vande Mataram‘ controversy, and alleged irregularities related to donations for the Ram Temple. Both leaders asserted that Jammu and Kashmir is, was, and always will be an integral part of India. They emphasized that the increasing clarity on Jammu and Kashmir at the international level reflects India’s diplomatic success.
In response to Sergio Gore’s remarks about Jammu and Kashmir, Sunil Sharma highlighted the significance of the American diplomat’s visit and his clear assertion that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India during his meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He stated that this clarity would naturally trouble Pakistan. Sharma reiterated that India’s stance extends beyond Jammu and Kashmir, consistently asserting that the region illegally occupied by Pakistan is also an integral part of India. Such clear comments from foreign diplomats signify India’s diplomatic and strategic success.
Sharma noted that previously, foreign representatives often made ambiguous statements about Jammu and Kashmir, creating confusion internationally. However, he believes the situation is now much clearer. He credited the Modi government for maintaining a strong position on Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that India is capable of responding to any unethical moves by Pakistan regarding the region. He emphasized that India’s policy towards Pakistan remains strategically clear.
On Congress’s stance regarding ‘Vande Mataram’, Sharma stated that no political party can supersede Parliament. If Parliament has passed a law or decision on a subject, can a resolution from a political party’s working committee be considered above it? He referred to Congress’s 1937 decision regarding ‘Vande Mataram’, accusing the party of trying to appease the Muslim League at that time. He claimed that Congress still appears to be influenced by that mindset. ‘Vande Mataram’ is not just a song; it is tied to the country’s independence and national sentiment. The stance taken by Congress on this issue is unfortunate for the nation.
Sharma also criticized Congress regarding alleged irregularities in donations linked to the Ram Temple. He argued that if an investigation is being conducted by a special investigation team or relevant agencies, it should not be politicized. Lord Ram is the center of faith for millions, and politicizing this issue could hurt the sentiments of devotees. He accused Congress of repeatedly attempting to make religious issues part of political debates, referencing a past affidavit where Congress had labeled Lord Ram as fictional. He asserted that the party’s current political activities concerning the Ram Temple are hypocritical, and the public will respond to such attempts.
Meanwhile, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma commented on Congress’s decision to sing only two stanzas of ‘Vande Mataram’, stating that respecting decisions passed in Parliament is the responsibility of all representatives. Political parties often speak of Parliament and constitutional institutions while in power, but their attitude changes when they are out of power. Honoring the land that provides food, fruit, clothing, and life is part of Indian tradition. Respect for the national anthem, national song, and the tricolor should be a priority for every citizen.
He emphasized the importance of remembering those who sacrificed their lives for freedom and the national flag, stating that negligence in honoring national symbols should not be tolerated.
In light of Pawan Khera’s recent statement, Sat Sharma referenced the history of the BJP’s formation and the freedom movement. He clarified that India gained independence on August 15, 1947, while the Bharatiya Jana Sangh was formed on October 21, 1951, and the BJP on April 6, 1980. Therefore, linking the formation of the BJP directly to the freedom movement is historically inaccurate. The roles of various political and social organizations involved in the freedom struggle should be viewed in a different context. Today, the country is moving in a new direction, and under the current leadership, it is equipped to face various challenges.
Sat Sharma reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, now and forever. He noted that after ‘Operation Sindoor’, Pakistan has become isolated internationally, and India has firmly presented its case to the world. MPs from various political parties have traveled abroad to advocate for the national interest, prioritizing it above political ideologies. As a result, the recognition of Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India is becoming increasingly clear on the international stage.
Referring to the part of Jammu and Kashmir occupied by Pakistan, he stated that India’s claim is clear, and that region will eventually reunite with India. The country is progressing towards the vision of ‘Akhand Bharat’, and the BJP is committed to making every effort for the honor of Jammu and Kashmir and the unity of India.
