Following the meetings, he shared images on the social media platform X. During the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized the significance of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) in strengthening global connectivity amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
He noted that the conflicts in West Asia have heightened the need for robust trade routes and secure supply chains. Addressing the session, Dr. Jaishankar highlighted that India’s growing trade agreements with major global partners, including the European Union, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and the UK, have significantly added value to the IMEC initiative.

He further added, “Additionally, India’s FTAs with the European Union, EFTA members, and the UK have enhanced the benefits of IMEC.”
Dr. Jaishankar also appreciated the growing enthusiasm among international partners to complete connectivity initiatives. He underscored the need for reforms in the United Nations Security Council and highlighted the challenges faced by the Global South.
He stated, “There is a need for UNSC reforms to facilitate peacekeeping missions and strengthen humanitarian supply chains, particularly addressing the Global South’s concerns regarding energy challenges, fertilizer supply, and food security.”
