Jaipur, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : The Rajasthan State Election Commission has ordered a re-election at a polling station in Ward 62 of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation. This decision affects the center located at the Government Higher Primary School (Room No. 4) in Tila Wala, Sanganer, and will take place on September 13 from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The commission’s directive comes after an incident during the initial voting on September 11, where 110 voters cast their ballots despite being listed as ineligible. Following an investigation by the district election officer and returning officer, it was determined that the integrity of the election process had been compromised.
In light of these findings, the commission invoked Rule 55 of the Rajasthan Municipal (Elections) Rules, 1994, to facilitate the re-election. Officials have been instructed to provide written notifications to all candidates and their agents regarding the date, time, and location of the re-voting. They are also required to ensure that the arrangements for the re-election are widely publicized in the area. Only voters authorized to cast their votes will be permitted to participate.
Additionally, the commission indicated that new ballot papers may be printed for use with electronic voting machines (EVMs) if necessary. The EVMs used during the original voting will be sealed and securely stored.
Previously, elections were held in two phases across 309 urban local bodies in Rajasthan on September 9 and 11, with a recorded voter turnout of 72.95%. The results of the elections will be announced after the counting of votes on September 14.
