Arjun Bijlani Apologizes After Controversy Over Wifes T-Shirt
Arjun Bijlani and his wife Neha respond to backlash over her T-shirt featuring Urdu words, emphasizing respect for all religions.

Mumbai, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Mumbai actor Arjun Bijlani and his wife, Neha Swami Bijlani, have found themselves at the center of a controversy following Neha’s choice of T-shirt, which featured words in Urdu. The backlash erupted on social media, prompting criticism from Pakistani actress Mishi Khan, who called for Neha to apologize.
In response to the growing uproar, the couple released an official statement clarifying that Neha was unaware of the meaning and significance of the words on her T-shirt. They emphasized that they had no intention of offending anyone’s religious sentiments and expressed regret for the incident.
Arjun shared the statement on his Instagram story, explaining, “We want to address the situation regarding Neha Swami Bijlani and the T-shirt she recently wore. The shirt had words in Urdu associated with the Prophet. Neha was completely unaware of their meanings and significance when she wore it. We did not intend to hurt or disrespect anyone’s feelings.”
The statement continued, “We deeply respect all religions, beliefs, and faiths, and would never intentionally do anything to hurt others’ feelings. However, the trolling, abusive language, curses, and threats directed at Neha are deeply troubling and unacceptable. An incident caused by a lack of knowledge should not lead to online harassment or threats against anyone.”
The couple revealed that the T-shirt was a gift from a fan at a mall in Bangkok, and they were not aware of the words written on it. “We celebrate all festivals and would never want to hurt anyone’s feelings. We regret what happened unintentionally and will be more cautious about future gifts. We ask everyone to view this matter with understanding and sensitivity, and to refrain from spreading hate or targeting Neha and her family,” they stated.
In closing, they expressed their belief that mutual respect and dialogue are better ways to resolve issues rather than resorting to insults and threats. They hope this clarification will help people understand the situation in the right context and urge everyone to approach it with respect and understanding.
The controversy began when Arjun, Neha, and their son Ayaan attended an event where Neha wore the T-shirt, which featured a cartoon character along with Urdu script that included the words “Allah” and a symbol associated with the Prophet. Following the release of photos and videos of the T-shirt, social media erupted with calls for action against Neha.
Mishi Khan also voiced her discontent on social media, stressing the importance of respecting the sentiments of other religions and demanding an apology from Neha.
