
Mumbai, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Bollywood’s horror-comedy film “Bhoot Uncle” has reached a significant milestone, celebrating its 20th anniversary. On this occasion, actor Jackie Shroff took to Instagram to reminisce about the film, sharing a montage of memorable scenes. He captioned the post, “Bhoot Uncle has completed 20 years since its release.”
Directed by Mukesh Saigal, the film features Shroff in the role of a friendly ghost. Aimed primarily at children and families, it showcased Shroff’s playful and humorous persona, which resonated well with young audiences. The bond between Shroff’s character, the friendly ghost (Pirate Ghost), and the children captivated viewers, helping to alleviate childhood fears of ghosts while also sparking interest in magical stories.
While it may not have been a massive box office success, “Bhoot Uncle” is fondly remembered on television as a vintage fantasy favorite among kids.
The film’s plot revolves around a small coastal town named Harinagar, where an old lighthouse is rumored to be haunted. In the story, a pirate, played by Shroff, attempts to steal a miraculous idol from a temple in Harinagar. Fearing capture, he hides in the lighthouse, concealing the idol there. Due to a divine curse, he becomes a ghost, trapped in the lighthouse. Years later, an orphan boy named Shyam and his friends inadvertently stumble upon the lighthouse, leading to a unique and magical friendship filled with adventure and humor between Shroff’s character and the children.
