Jerusalem, March 6: Amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced a warning through the National Security Council (NSC) regarding the safety of Israeli citizens living abroad.
In a post on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister’s office stated, “Terrorist elements are working to harm Israelis abroad. Taking this seriously, the NSC urges Israelis living overseas to remain vigilant and adhere to security precautions.”
The official announcement highlighted a rise in terrorist activities and threats against Israeli and Jewish targets globally since the launch of Operation ‘Roaring Lion.’ It noted that Iranian security agencies have increased their operations against Israeli interests, particularly in neighboring countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan. The risk of attacks on Israeli targets in these regions has escalated.
The statement referenced recent incidents where Israeli citizens were targeted in various countries. It also mentioned an increased risk of ‘lone-wolf’ attacks. For instance, on March 1, a lone gunman opened fire in Austin, Texas, and on March 3, there was gunfire directed at Jewish sites in Toronto, with the assailant still at large.
Currently, the NSC has advised Israeli citizens to exercise heightened caution when traveling to any country.
Specific guidelines have also been issued for Israeli nationals. They are advised to avoid transit flights via the United Arab Emirates until further notice. Additionally, they should conceal any signs of Jewish or Israeli identity in public spaces. Increased vigilance is recommended, especially in destinations worldwide, particularly in Iran, Gulf-bordering countries, and those with existing travel alerts. Sharing real-time personal information on social media is discouraged.
Israeli citizens are further instructed to avoid visiting places identified as Jewish or Israeli. When in such locations, they should remain alert to their surroundings. In the event of a threat or attack, they must promptly inform local security forces. It is essential to follow the advice provided on the NSC’s official website for each specific country.
