War Between Israel and IraN

New Delhi: The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran is intensifying, with both sides exchanging heavy attacks targeting military installations and residential areas. The war, which has already resulted in significant casualties and damage on both sides, is now drawing global attention as geopolitical tensions escalate.

War Between Israel and IraN

In a dramatic turn, Israel recently issued statements hinting at a possible change of leadership in Iran and the targeting of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The rhetoric has raised alarms across the international community, prompting a sharp response from Russia.

Russia Opposes Any Move to Target Khamenei

In an interview with Sky News, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov strongly condemned the idea of attempting to assassinate Ayatollah Khamenei.

He stated:

“Any talk of a change of power in Iran is unacceptable. Anyone thinking about assassinating Khamenei must understand they are opening Pandora’s box.”

Referring to the well-known Greek myth, Peskov’s use of Pandora’s box suggests that such an action could unleash a series of uncontrollable consequences — potentially destabilizing not just the Middle East, but the wider global order.

Russia’s statement makes clear that it would not support any action aimed at overthrowing Iran’s leadership — a clear signal of Moscow’s backing for Tehran in this escalating crisis.

Israel’s Defence Minister Issues Strong Threat

Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has taken a hardline position. In public remarks, he said:

“Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, will no longer be allowed to live.”

He directly accused Khamenei of orchestrating the recent missile strike on a hospital near Tel Aviv, which left dozens injured. Katz’s remarks indicate Israel’s intent to escalate military actions, leaving little room for de-escalation in the near term.

No Signs of Reconciliation

The situation remains extremely volatile, with no diplomatic breakthrough in sight. Israel has intensified strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and military targets, while Iran continues to launch missiles and drones into Israeli territory.

Iranian officials have accused Israel of carrying out targeted killings of Iranian citizens and operatives. The cycle of retaliation shows no sign of abating, raising fears of a wider regional war.

Global Implications

As the Israel-Iran conflict spirals, global powers are being drawn into the crisis:

  • The United States continues to back Israel diplomatically and militarily.

  • Russia is voicing support for Iran and warning against Western or Israeli actions aimed at regime change.

Observers warn that if tensions escalate further, the conflict could spill over into neighboring countries and disrupt global energy markets and security alliances.

For now, the Middle East is on edge, with the risk of broader war looming larger than ever.
