Washington, June 20 — Amid escalating tensions and military conflict between Israel and Iran, two major US airlines — United Airlines and American Airlines — have temporarily suspended their passenger flights to the Middle East.
In an official statement, United Airlines announced: “Given the ongoing conflict in the region, we are currently suspending our daily flights between Newark and Dubai.” The airline further stated that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and will offer all possible assistance to passengers affected by the suspension.
Similarly, American Airlines has made adjustments to its flight schedules between Doha, Qatar, and Philadelphia International Airport. The airline confirmed that a flight from Doha to Philadelphia was operated earlier than scheduled on Thursday, while the remaining services will be temporarily adjusted through June 22.
American Airlines added in its statement: “We are prioritizing the safety and security of our passengers and crew. We will continue to monitor developments and make further adjustments to our services as necessary.”
The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict is now having not only a regional but also a growing global impact on air travel. The decision by both US airlines highlights the increasing risks to flight safety in the Middle East airspace.
