Irans President Asserts Decisions Require Supreme Leaders Approval

Tehran, May 24: Iran’s President Masoud Pajeshkian has stated that no decisions regarding the U.S.-Iran agreement will be made without the approval of the Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

According to the Tasnim news agency, Pajeshkian remarked, “Any statement, analysis, or stance that creates division in society effectively benefits the enemy.”

He emphasized, “No decisions in the country will be made outside the framework of the Supreme National Security Council and without the Supreme Leader’s consent. The governance of the country demands unified decisions and collective discipline.”

His comments come at a time when a 60-day ceasefire is making headlines. The American website Axios has reported, citing a U.S. military officer, that an announcement may be forthcoming. The discussions include conditions related to Hormuz, the nuclear program, and the lifting of certain sanctions.

Previously, Pajeshkian targeted the U.S. through a post on X, reminding them of Iran’s history. He wrote, “Our country remains steadfast today, just like the brave people of Khorramshahr, who stood against the invading army for days to showcase the strength of the Iranian people.”

Khorramshahr is a significant and historic port city located in Iran’s Khuzestan province. It gained attention during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s. The city is situated at the confluence of the Shatt al-Arab and Karun rivers, making it an important trade center near the Persian Gulf. The city suffered extensive devastation during the war but was rebuilt afterward. In honor of its military courage, Iran named one of its powerful ballistic missiles ‘Khorramshahr,’ which is often showcased during military parades in Tehran.
