New York, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, accompanied by First Lady Olena Zelenska and his diplomatic team, has landed in New York to participate in the high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly. His primary focus during this visit will be to address the ongoing war with Russia.
Zelensky has planned around 20 meetings during his stay in New York, emphasizing that Ukraine’s foremost priority is to advance peace and protect its citizens. He shared details of his trip on the social media platform ‘X.’
In his post, Zelensky wrote, “I have arrived in New York to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly with First Lady Olena Zelenska and our diplomatic team. We have about 20 meetings scheduled, including with the President of the United States, European leaders, U.S. senators, members of the House of Representatives, heads of international organizations, major American companies, and think tanks.”
During this visit, preparations are also in place to sign a new drone agreement. The discussions will focus on strengthening air defense and ensuring adequate funding for Ukraine.
Zelensky reiterated that advancing peace and safeguarding the lives of the Ukrainian people remain the top priorities. He mentioned that there are concrete proposals and measures to reduce tensions, which could facilitate progress toward ending the war.
Similar to last year, Zelensky announced that they will host an international summit on the Crimea platform in New York, aiming for high-level participation from various countries. He expressed gratitude to all partners for their support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Additionally, during this trip, Olena Zelenska will address students and faculty at Columbia University and present the outcomes of the First Ladies and Gentlemen Summit at the United Nations.
The First Lady also has several meetings lined up with American business leaders and philanthropists to garner support for projects under the Olena Zelenska Foundation. She will engage in multiple bilateral meetings, including discussions with the wife of the UK Prime Minister and the President of the World Bank.
