New Delhi, March 29: Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated to a dangerous new level. Following an Israeli strike on an Iranian industrial facility, Iran retaliated by launching a missile attack on the Negev Industrial Zone in Beer Sheva, Israel.
This attack not only highlights the increasing severity of the conflict between the two nations but also raises concerns about instability and the potential for a larger conflict in the region.
Iran’s state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), announced on the social media platform ‘X’ that, “Iran’s missile response came after Israel targeted its industrial facility, leading to an attack on the Negev Industrial Facility in Beer Sheva.”
Just a day earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian stated that any actions taken by the U.S.-Israel alliance would be met with a strong response. In a post on social media, Pajeshkian warned that while Iran does not initiate conflict, it will not hesitate to respond if attacked.
He emphasized, “If there is an attack on Iran’s infrastructure or economic sites, a vigorous response will follow.” He also cautioned other regional countries that if they seek development and security, they should not allow their territories to be used against Iran’s enemies.
Iran claimed on Sunday that it had damaged an American E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft during its attacks. The Iranian military targeted the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, where the American aircraft was stationed.
According to IRIB, the E-3 Sentry AWACS sustained damage in the Iranian assault, along with several refueling aircraft (KC-135). This aircraft is critical for U.S. regional air surveillance and command capabilities, serving as the eyes and ears on the battlefield.
Additionally, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have targeted an American F-16 Fighting Falcon and an MQ-9 Reaper drone. The air defense system successfully neutralized aircraft and drones attempting to intrude into Iran’s southern airspace.
