Iran Stands Firm on Hormuz Strait Management, No Deal with US Yet

Tehran, May 30: Iran remains steadfast regarding the management of the Hormuz Strait. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei clarified that no agreement has been finalized with the United States.

According to a report by the Xinhua news agency, Baghaei stated in a telephone interview with the state TV channel IRIB that communication between both sides is ongoing. This statement comes at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly outlined his conditions for a potential agreement with Iran, indicating that a decision will be made soon.

Baghaei reiterated that Iran’s current focus in negotiations is on ending the conflict. He mentioned, “At this stage, we are not discussing details related to Iran’s uranium enrichment or enriched uranium.”

Discussing the potential reopening of the Hormuz Strait, Baghaei emphasized that its future management concerns only Iran and Oman.

Previously, in a social media post, President Trump outlined his demands, stating, “Iran must agree that they will never have any nuclear weapons or bombs.”

Trump added, “The Hormuz Strait should be reopened immediately, and there should be no fees for the movement of ships in both directions. All mines laid in the water will be removed.”

He also mentioned that the naval blockade imposed by the U.S. will be lifted. Furthermore, he stated, “Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium will be located and destroyed in coordination with the U.S., Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).”

Regarding the financial compensation requested by Iran for the war, Trump noted, “Until further notice, no money will be exchanged.”

It is noteworthy that a conflict between Iran, the U.S., and Israel lasted for 40 days before a ceasefire was declared on April 8.
