Tehran, March 27: Amid ongoing conflict with Israel and the United States, Iran has issued an ultimatum to hotel owners in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. The warning states that if they accommodate U.S. military personnel, their properties could become legitimate military targets.
According to the semi-official news agency Fars, U.S. troops have sought refuge in regional hotels following Iranian attacks and joint operations with allied militant groups. These assaults have targeted U.S. military infrastructure across the Middle East.
Furthermore, a report from the Xinhua news agency indicates that this warning applies to all locations housing foreign military personnel. If such activities continue, the warning will take immediate effect.
The report also claims that U.S. military personnel have established a presence at civilian sites throughout the region. This includes a logistics base near Beirut’s old airport and advisory activities at the ‘Republic Palace,’ ‘Four Seasons,’ and ‘Sheraton’ hotels in Damascus. Additionally, this week, U.S. Marines were dispatched to Djibouti International Airport via Istanbul and Sofia.
Earlier, on Thursday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif warned Gulf Arab hotels against accepting U.S. military personnel. He accused these soldiers of fleeing their bases and using civilian locations as shields.
Zarif wrote on the social media platform X, “Since the start of this war, U.S. soldiers have fled GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) military bases and hidden in hotels and offices. They are using GCC citizens as ‘human shields.’”
He compared this situation to U.S. hotels, where, according to him, bookings are denied to officials who may pose a threat to guests. He urged Gulf hotels to adopt similar policies.
It is noteworthy that the conflict between Iran and Israel, along with the U.S., has been ongoing since February 28. Israel and the U.S. have been jointly attacking Iran. So far, these assaults have resulted in the deaths of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, several senior military commanders, and thousands of civilians. However, Iran has also been retaliating.
