Washington, March 5: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has asserted that it shot down a US F-15E strike fighter near the country’s southwestern border.
According to Tasnim News Agency, the two-seat fighter jet was “targeted and brought down.” However, the report did not specify the timing of the incident. The US Central Command has categorically rejected this claim.
In a brief post on X, Central Command stated that rumors of an F-15E crashing in Iran are baseless and false.
On the same day, Israel claimed it had downed an Iranian manned jet within its airspace. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that its F-35I Adir stealth fighter jets achieved a historic success by shooting down an Iranian aircraft.
The IDF expressed its satisfaction in a post on X, stating, “An Iranian jet was shot down: The Air Force’s F-35I ‘Adir’ fighter jet downed an Iranian Air Force Yak-130 fighter jet. This marks a historic event for the F-35 ‘Adir’ fighter jet in downing a manned aircraft.”
Tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated in recent weeks, with both sides launching attacks on each other’s military bases and air facilities.
Meanwhile, on the sixth day of the attacks, Tasnim News Agency reported that the death toll from US-Israeli strikes in Iran has risen to 1,230, according to the Foundation of Martyrs and Veteran Affairs.
In addition to the loss of life, many of Iran’s assets have also been damaged. Iran has issued a warning to European countries. Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, warned in an interview with Spain’s broadcaster TVE that if EU nations remain silent on the US and Israeli attacks, they will “eventually pay the price, sooner or later.”
