Kabul, March 13: The Taliban spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, has reported that Pakistan has conducted new military airstrikes across several Afghan provinces, including Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, and Paktika. These attacks have resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children.
The Taliban has condemned these strikes, stating that they have escalated tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and constitute a violation of Afghan sovereignty.
Mujahid expressed his concerns on social media platform X, stating, “Continuing the pattern of previous assaults, the Pakistani military has once again bombarded Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, Paktika, and several other areas. In some locations, they targeted civilian homes, leading to the deaths of women and children. In other areas, they struck empty deserts and uninhabited regions.”
He criticized the timing of the attacks, saying, “This assault during the last ten days of Ramadan and on the eve of Eid al-Fitr clearly shows their disregard for any humanitarian principles or moral values. We strongly condemn this attack and will respond accordingly.”
Mujahid accused Pakistani military aircraft of igniting fuel reserves belonging to Kam Air, a private airline, near Kandahar International Airport. He noted, “This company supplies fuel to civilian and United Nations aircraft. Previously, they have also burned private traders’ fuel depots.”
Recently, Afghan officials reported that Taliban forces killed 30 Pakistani soldiers during clashes along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
Taliban Defense Ministry spokesperson Enayatullah Khwarazmi stated that the fighting occurred in the Shorabak district of Kandahar province, where Taliban fighters allegedly seized a Pakistani military outpost.
Khwarazmi claimed that after capturing the outpost during the skirmishes, they destroyed it with explosives. He asserted that 30 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the fighting, including 20 who were stationed to reinforce the outpost.
He further claimed that Taliban fighters captured five Pakistani military posts in the Dand Patan area of Paktia and entered the Top Sar Khwuch Karam and Anjarki Sar posts.
The current hostilities began when Taliban-led Afghan forces launched a counter-offensive against Pakistani military bases on February 27, following Pakistan’s targeting of terrorists in Afghan territory on February 21.
In response to the Afghan attacks, Pakistan initiated ‘Operation Ghazb-e-Haq’ in several border areas, citing alleged “unprovoked firing” by Afghan forces.
