Washington, March 13: Discussions surrounding the health of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, have intensified. Claims are emerging that he was seriously injured in an attack allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel. Former President Donald Trump has stated that Mojtaba is alive but wounded.
It is noteworthy that during the initial day of the US-Israel assault, Iran’s previous Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, was reported dead. Following this, Mojtaba was appointed as the new Supreme Leader of Iran. Since his appointment, he has not been seen in public. Trump asserts that while Mojtaba is alive, he is indeed injured.
Trump expressed his belief that the new Supreme Leader is alive but “injured.” Earlier, Iranian state media reported that Mojtaba sustained minor injuries. When news of Ayatollah Khamenei’s death broke, there were also rumors that Mojtaba had perished in the US-Israeli attack.
Subsequently, it was revealed that alongside Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Mojtaba’s wife, mother, and other family members lost their lives in the attack. Media reports also indicated the deaths of Khamenei’s grandson and daughter.
Iran’s ambassador to Cyprus, Alireza Salarian, informed The Guardian that Mojtaba Khamenei suffered injuries to his legs, arms, and hands. He stated, “I have heard that he has injuries to his legs and arms. I believe he is in the hospital due to his injuries.”
International media outside Iran have reported that Mojtaba has a broken leg and minor facial injuries, including bruising around his left eye and a cut above it.
Following Ayatollah Khamenei’s death, Mojtaba was declared the new Supreme Leader of Iran. Since being elected by a clerical assembly on Sunday, he has not been seen by the Iranian public. His first statement as Supreme Leader was read by an Iranian television presenter on Thursday.
An Iranian official confirmed that the newly appointed Supreme Leader has sustained minor injuries; following reports of his injuries on state television, his operation is ongoing.
